Flash - Create torch / beam effect |
| BELOW IS THE EXAMPLE OF WHAT WE ARE GOING TO CREATE. |
In this tutorial I will show you a very easy way to create torch /beam effect. |
|
1. Create a new document and set the dimensions to 490px by 150px. Make the background colour BLACK.
2. With the rectangle tool (R) draw a rectangle on a new layer and make it the same size as your stage area. Fill the rectangle with BLACK colour . 3. Select the text tool (T) and type in a any word (on the same layer as your rectangle) and position it over the rectangle so it sits in the middle of the stage. The colour of the text should be white in colour. 4. With the text still selected press (Ctrl + B) twice. This will ungroup the text so that it becomes a bitmap. 5. Once the text is converted to bitmap, select individual parts of it and press delete key. |
6. Observe that when you hit the delete key, it will create a vacant space / cut out in the black rectangle. |
7. Once all the white text is deleted, insert a new layer underneath, naming it Beam. |
![]() |
8. On this layer with the help of oval tool (O) make an oval 60px X 60px. Then convert it into a Movieclip. Select this new Movieclip and give it an instance name of ray. |
9. Insert a new layer and name it actions. Select the empty keyframe on this new layer and press (F9) to open the actions panel, then insert the following script: setProperty("/ray", _visible, true); |
